Vinyl Expeditions with Late Night Workout
Before we dive into the records themselves, a little context: Late Night Workout. Based in Poland, he’s a passionate vinyl digger with a decade-long commitment to uncovering and sharing electronic music that often doesn’t exist online — especially tracks that are hard to find or haven’t been uploaded anywhere yet. Through his YouTube channel, he’s built a space where rare and overlooked releases can be discovered and appreciated by listeners around the world, blending the roles of curator, enthusiast, and community connector in underground electronic music.
In this Vinyl Expedition, he invited us into his archive of over 3,000 records to highlight 20 releases that have stayed with him — balancing club-ready dancefloor tools with deeply personal listening pieces. What follows isn’t just a list of favorites: it’s a glimpse into the tracks that have shaped his musical journey.
Letter by Late Night Workout:
Hi!
Recently I was asked by @Frequenzamusicec to pick a few records from my collection and say a few words about them. At first I planned to choose around 10–15 releases, but once I started, I realized it wouldn’t be that easy, and that I’d probably end up selecting more records than I originally thought. One of my biggest problems is that I practically have a new favorite record every week, which means that my collection is full of records I haven’t even given half the attention they actually deserve. So here you go — 20 records from my collection of over 3,000 releases, which I’ve been building for more than 10 years now. I tried to keep a balance between strictly club-oriented records and ones I really enjoy listening to at home. The order of the albums presented here is random.
DJ Healer – Nothing 2 Loose
One of the most important figures that shaped my musical taste when I started collecting vinyl is the mysterious producer from Hannover, mainly known as Traumprinz, Prinz Of Denmark, and DJ Metatron. In 2018, when he was already a well-established producer, he released two albums which, bought blindly, turned out to be real gems: the techno-oriented Prime Minister Of Doom – Mudshadow Propaganda and the more breakbeat- and ambient-driven DJ Healer – Nothing 2 Loose. A fun fact about this album is that there are several different cover versions, and when you ordered it, you never knew which one you’d get. This record is a true musical feast, full of ethereal, flowing sounds.

Innere Tueren – Innere Tueren
Released on the Leipzig-based label KANN Records, the mini-album Innere Tueren – Innere Tueren takes the listener on a melancholic journey to a place that seems to exist somewhere in childhood memories.

Clé Acklin – No Need To See
I found this record a few years ago in one of my favorite record stores, @vinylgate recordstore in Poznań. I was really into Clé Acklin's music back then, so I was super happy about it. The main mix, played by Nathan Coles and Terry Francis in their Fabric mix, was recently reissued on the Mineral Cuts label. I highly recommend checking out other releases on Soundproof Music, especially the record by Waric Cameron. Incredible music.

Murray Richardson – Headstrong EP
This is another record I found at Vinylgate Recordstore in Poznań. What’s funny is that I’d been looking for this one for a very long time — on Discogs there were only two copies available, shipping from Australia and the US. I even wrote to the producer of this EP, who turned out to be a super nice guy and sent me the digital files. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a copy he could sell. When I finally started to accept that I’d only ever have this record in digital form, I found a test press — again, at Vinylgate.

Marzipan & Mustard – Fuze
I first heard the track Pool in a Felon5 mix — it actually opened the mix. I searched for the ID for ages, and when I finally found it, I immediately ordered the CD. Since then I’ve probably listened to it hundreds of times, always waiting for that last track. This is a perfect record for a winter evening, so I definitely recommend listening to it now, when it gets dark so quickly.

Bon Voyage Organisation – 星夜 = Xīngyè
I bought this record during my “disco phase.” Rich, catchy compositions that quickly get stuck in your head and refuse to leave.

Avus – Breeder Of Psychosis
Not much to say here — the original mix is an absolute monster of a banger that always works on the dancefloor. On the flip side, you’ll find a hypnotic remix by Smithmonger.

Dylan Rhymes – Muji
This track is just insane. I also got this record from Vinylgate Recordstore. A few years ago I was there with my friend GO (https://soundcloud.com/grzo), and when he handed me this record to check out, I was literally speechless. A simple, tension-building loop that after just over a minute turns into a proper dancefloor banger, with a deep bassline that sounds deadly on a proper sound system. This record always heats up the floor.

Keith Nunnally – Seasons Of Love
This blue record with an orange, heart-shaped leaf holds a special place in my collection. I have absolutely no doubts it belongs on this list. I’m almost embarrassed to admit it, but I don’t even know all the mixes on it. Whenever I put it on the turntable, I immediately skip to the Deep Dub mix by Maurice Joshua. Sex sounds in music can feel a bit cliché and not everyone is a fan of that kind of effect, but I totally fall for them in this track — mixed with that charming laugh, a repetitive bassline, and hypnotic piano. I absolutely love this tune.

Manuel Sahagun – Deep Friday EP
I barely ever take this record out of my bag. Released on Wiggle, the legendary label run by Nathan Coles and Terry Francis, this EP is pretty much everything I love about dance music. When the bassline drops in Alright, most people on the dancefloor completely lose their minds. Deep Friday is a really nice tune as well.

Tom Gillieron – All Night
This is probably my favorite record released by Tom Gillieron. Three dancefloor tracks that always get an excited reaction from the crowd. My favorite of the three is Heavy Dose Remedy. On a big sound system, this track sounds incredibly energetic, yet still deep.

Etnobotanika – Fruwający Przestępca
This record is a real gem among more recent releases from the Polish underground. The very low-profile duo Etnobotanika released their debut album on Superkasety Records and The Very Polish Cut-Outs. You can really feel the vibe of Poland in the 1980s and 1990s here. The album contains a huge amount of samples from old Polish films and TV series. The range of styles is impressive — from downtempo and ambient, through house, all the way to dub techno. I also highly recommend checking out their latest album, Kosmobotanika, released earlier this year. A few copies are still available on Superkasety Records’ Bandcamp: https://superkasety.bandcamp.com/

Wanderwelle – Lost In A Sea Of Trees
Very often I place one of my records on a shelf or somewhere visible, so it catches my eye. This is one of the records I keep putting on top. Thanks to that, I reach for it quite often and listen to it a lot. Maybe that’s why I’ve listened to this album so many times. Haunting and dreamy melodies.

42 Cows In Town – 42 Cows In Town
I bought this record not that long ago, but it very quickly earned a special place in my collection. It’s quite versatile for DJ sets. Coffeeshop People (Orlando Careca Coffee Dub Mix) is an ultra-deep house track. On the flip side, there’s a proper peak-time weapon — U No opens with a solid kick drum and a pulsing bassline. Halfway through, a synth section comes in and things get really hot.

DAV – Headspin
I love hypnotic tracks with deep vocals, and Headspin is exactly that. The title track from the EP by Croatian maestro Davor Stosic, releasing music under the name DAV. Released on the phenomenal Sensei label, the EP features three powerful tech house tracks soaked in deep basslines, chopped vocals, and acid sounds.

Martha Cinader – Living It (The Remixes)
For a few years now, I’ve been going with my crew to a small village near the German border, where we rent a villa in the forest, set up DJ gear and a sound system under a roof on the terrace, and play music in turns from Friday until Sunday morning. Imagine dancing all night surrounded by trees to music played by your friends, and then in the morning, when your friend finishes his set, you hear this track. That’s how I first heard this tune, and I instantly fell in love with it. Since then I’ve probably listened to it hundreds of times — it also accompanied me through some more difficult moments in life. Some people might find it funny, but the lyrics of this track really motivate me and pushes me forward. And the whole tune is simply addictive.

Demuir – Love Jones
This is one of those tracks that just won’t leave your head. What I like most on this record is the Original Mix — a deep bassline and a sensual, catchy vocal. The Kappacino Mix is much rawer, and around the 2-minute mark an incredible percussion section comes in, so that version is definitely worth checking out as well.

BT's Hair – Never Honk A Donkey
BT’s Hair is one of my favorite Marky Star aliases. This isn’t confirmed, but I’ve heard that the /qoo7 label, on which this record was released, actually belonged to Marky himself. I also really love the Never Honk A Phrunky (Ty Tek & Little Mike Remix) — they turned the original into a dark, tech-house heater with a rolling bassline.

DCL Project – French Connection E.P.
I really like this EP. It opens with a hypnotic tech house track featuring looped vocals that remind me of the classic Iteration X – Timecheck. I also really like Danny’s Tripp (Danny Chatelain Remix – The Alchemy), which has a spy-movie vibe and some very cool and silly samples running throughout the track.

Various – SFO Arrivals 2
I bought this record relatively recently, mainly because releases from the San Francisco–based label MDEX are quite expensive these days. That said, this 4-tracker has recently become one of my favorite records. It opens with a short acoustic track and then quickly gets down to business. Troubled Times is a hypnotic deep house track, very much in line with other productions by DJ Naz. The B-side opens with Salt ’n’ Candy, an interesting production by Eli Bingham with nice inserts and a vocoder-style vocal. My favorite track on this record, however, is Tapio Schnaars – Router. Every time I hear that melody, my mood instantly improves.
